In November 2020, Storytellers Distillery came to life, uniting a group of spirited individuals with a shared passion for crafting distinctive Australian spirits using local botanicals and infusing each drop with storytelling magic. Their debut product, Volume 1: Australian Dry Gin, was unveiled at a lively celebration at Hains and Co Gin Bar in Adelaide, receiving overwhelming praise from friends and family.

With the motto, ‘every sip tells a story,’ they ventured forth, creating a diverse range of spirits, each with its own captivating narrative. National and international acclaim adorned their mainline releases, but in July 2022, disaster struck with a fire damaging their distillery and cellar door.

Undeterred, they pressed on, releasing their Hyperseasonal series every month, now on #_019, and introducing two new mainline products. Amidst setbacks, they triumphed, finding a new home in Thebarton to continue weaving their enchanting tales through exceptional spirits. The Storytellers’ journey is far from over, and with every bottle, they invite all to savor the magic of their craft.

St Mary’s Wines, a cherished family-owned establishment, is deeply rooted in the Penola community for over a century. The Mulligan family, with a long history in the area, purchased the property in 1937, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey.

In 1984, Barry and Glenys Mulligan embarked on a visionary endeavor, conducting thorough research to establish a vineyard on a 200-acre section of the Terra Rossa ridge gracing their property. The following year, they commenced planting a variety of grape vines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Pinot Noir.

The culmination of their passion and hard work bore fruit in 1990 when St Mary’s Wines proudly presented its first vintage to the world. Since then, their wines have been celebrated for their quality, reflecting the unique terroir of the South East of South Australia.

Master Mariner Rowland Short’s adventurous spirit led him to navigate the world’s oceans as a ship’s captain, exploring faraway ports in search of exotic and native botanicals to blend with his other great passion: gin. To him, botanicals are nature’s language of joy and splendor, awakening human senses and providing solace on the endless blue horizon.

After settling in McLaren Vale, South Australia, Rowland established Settler’s Spirits with a beautiful column still, embarking on a new journey of gin crafting. Today, Settler’s Spirits combines botany, exploration, and time-honored traditions to produce an array of expertly crafted and distinctly blended gins.

With patience and commitment, Seppeltsfield Road Distillers have garnered over 70 accolades and awards in just four years, including prestigious gold medals from esteemed competitions like International Wine and Spirits Competition, London Spirits Competition, and Global Gin Masters Competition. They were even named the 2018 Australian Gin Distiller of the Year at Melbourne International Spirits Competition and won the 2019 Best New Tourism Business at the South Australian Tourism Awards.
