Mount Compass Spirits, founded in 2014 by David and Jenny Martin, is a craft distillery committed to producing high-quality spirits. Originally from Liverpool, England, the couple relocated to Australia in 2009.

Jenny, a nurse, and David, a research chemist, shared a passion for homemade wines and beers, which they had been crafting together since David was 13. Living near McLaren Vale’s wine region, David pondered the possibility of turning his hobby into a full-time business. However, the high costs and number of wine producers posed challenges. It was during this time they noticed the limited production of spirits consumed in Australia, prompting them to explore the idea of establishing their own distillery.

Filled with determination, they embarked on a journey of hard work and paperwork to bring their vision to life. Mount Compass Spirits was born, with a dedication to creating top-notch craft spirits that showcase their expertise and passion.

Stuart, the founder of Little Juniper, had a unique introduction to spirits at a young age when he enjoyed a sip of G&T with his mother. This sparked his love and curiosity for spirit blending. As he grew older, his passion for gin led him to explore various varieties from around the world.

After a successful career in film and TV, Stuart decided to pursue his dream of opening a distillery. The plan was accelerated by the Covid pandemic, and he embraced the challenge, focusing on sustainability and a small environmental footprint. With experiences spanning various careers and locations, including FIFO work and naval service, the families always discussed the idea of starting a distillery when they came together.
