Swan River Distillery is the result of a father-daughter collaboration. In 2020, Scott and Abby combined their different strengths to create a range of unique spirits. Scott’s experience with a handmade still allowed them to craft flavors he had been searching for while maintaining the smooth and delicious taste of Gin.

Experimenting with Australian Native Botanicals and juniper berries, Scott and Abby developed recipes, designed labels, selected bottles, and launched their full-fledged distillery in 2021. The project quickly gained popularity, starting with local farmers markets and expanding to bottle shops and beyond.

With a focus on sustainability, Swan River Distillery offers a diverse range of products, including gin, vodka, absinthe, coffee liqueur, and limoncello. Their offerings cater to different tastes, with options for those who prefer sweeter spirits or classic dry gin.

Despite starting as a small, urban distillery in Welshpool, Swan River Distillery has come a long way, now boasting a cellar door, a dedicated team, and a tasting room. Danielle Costley, the founder of the distillery, is an internationally acclaimed wine, food, and travel writer with a deep passion for fine wines. During her winemaking studies, she developed a fascination for distillation, especially barrel-aged spirits. She acquired rare Ice Chardonnay barrels from Fraser Gallop Estate and began experimenting with gin and whisky.

While working on her book, Beyond the Farm Gate, Danielle discovered native botanicals that captured the essence of Western Australia’s South West region. Infusing these botanicals in barrel-aged gins, she collaborated with chefs to explore the versatility of the regional produce.

The spirits from the distillery aim to evoke images of the unique South West region of Western Australia, overflowing with local produce. By ageing their spirits in rare Chardonnay barrels, they pay homage to the magnificent Margaret River wine region where they are located.

In 2020, they released Australia’s first Ice Whisky, and the Cane Cut Semillon single malt whisky is set to be released in 2022. The distillery invites everyone to join their journey, one swirl, sip, or dram at a time.

Sin Gin Distillery is a highly acclaimed nano distillery, known for its exceptional spirits and creative blends. Founded in 2016 during a conversation between Kate and Mark at The Murray Hotel in West Perth, Western Australia, Sin Gin quickly gained recognition for its quality products. In its first year, the distillery garnered 1 Gold, 3 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals at the Australian Distilled Spirits Awards.

Driven by this success, Sin Gin expanded and moved into a purpose-built distillery in Swan Settlers Market, Swan Valley, just 30 minutes from Perth CBD. This venue serves as a production facility, tourist destination, tasting room, and cellar door.

Mark Harris, the former air-traffic controller turned distiller, is the creative force behind the distillery’s stunning spirits. He has passionately crafted seven different gins for the Seven Deadly Sins Range, Australian Aquavit, Original Sin, and the flagship product, Perth Pink.

Kate Sinfield, a long-time gin enthusiast with a background in hospitality and tourism, manages the business and sales side of Sin Gin. Together with their dedicated team of 12, they continue to produce outstanding craft spirits loved by gin enthusiasts in Australia and beyond.

Old Macdonald Distillery, nestled in the Perth Hills near Gidgegannup, crafts exceptional gins with meticulous care. Each gin is personally bottled, labeled, and regularly tasted by Old Macdonald himself. Utilizing a variety of natural ingredients sourced from his own farm and other Western Australian farms, the exact location of the distillery remains a well-kept secret.

The OMG gins have gained widespread popularity, stocked in over 100 outlets across four states, and are now available for online sales. Although there are no immediate plans for cellar door sales due to licensing restrictions, the smooth and sophisticated flavors of Old Macdonald’s gins leave gin enthusiasts captivated, regardless of their origin in tiny Gidgegannup.
